THE MOOD: Minding Our Molecules

Can we be beautifully broken open? August starts with a crackling of ourselves, and all that has been bottled up inside of us bursts forth in an outpouring of light and heat. The Sun’s opposition to Saturn and subsequent square to Uranus would have nothing less. This cataclysm is not a meaningless breakage but rather a necessary part of our becoming -- a release of ego, a surrender to forces beyond ourselves, a preparation for new growth ahead.

And indeed, growth there will be as the inner planets begin their traversal through Virgo this month. Venus goes first, mending and melding the pieces of ourselves that have fallen out of their places. Even if we feel scattered, Virgo’s immense cellular intelligence will guide us. Through microcosmic examination -- especially within Venus’ domain of relationships, values, and pleasure -- we will see the roots of our divine organization, the fractal perfection that is possible when we are in touch with all parts of ourselves. It is key to our evolution to sift and sort through ourselves to see how our thoughts, feelings, actions, and atoms interact in a complex lattice of being. Overall, August is a time to catch up, get reacquainted, and trim the excesses that no longer serve you. It is a time to tend to yourself in a majestically meticulous way.

Mid-month, Mercury and the Sun will follow Venus’ lead and enter Virgo. As they move through Virgo, these inner planets will trine Uranus, oppose Neptune, and then trine Pluto. This planetary pattern offers repeated potential for detailed discoveries, effusive imagining, and holistic surrender to what we cannot control. At its best, this weather can encourage in-depth exploration, restoration, and healing; however, it could also challenge us to strike a healthy balance between fixating and forgiving, between holding on and letting go. As you navigate the radical ups and downs of your journey, how will you treat yourself and others delicately, deliberately, and divinely?

As we close August, we may find ourselves ever more comfortable living with the questions -- for we will be able to see that they are in service to our own renewal. Venus moves towards Libra, which lays steady groundwork to help us stabilize and harmonize as we move forward. This time reminds us that while growth may be messy, it is a practice of attunement to our sacred internal order. And in that practice -- if we take it step by step -- we will continue to return back to ourselves, healing in euphonic tandem.
